Today I’m speaking with Tamara McLaughlin of Tamara Marie Designs, another POP alum who shares how the course and investing in herself allowed her new business to leap to the next level.

Tamara decided to start her business during the pandemic and she talks to me about taking that leap, her hospitality background and the knowledge she learned that changed how she organizes her process, team and pricing. Finally, she shares the “best mistake she ever made” and her advice to fellow new business owners.

About Tamara

Tamara McLaughlin, founder of Tamara Marie Designs began her career as a Director of Sales & Marketing at the most well-known hotels in Beverly Hills, Hollywood and the Westside of Los Angeles, California. These included major hotel brands such as Marriott & Hilton Hotels. In addition, boutique luxury hotels such as the Roosevelt, Sofitel Beverly Hills and Shutters on the Beach. Tamara’s expertise in developing high impact marketing strategies and proactive sales teams, gained her multiple awards and accolades in the industry. These multi-faceted lifestyle brands supported environments of expressive design. The goal, to create memorable experiences. While she has had a lifelong passion for the decorative arts, at the peak of her years of success in the hospitality industry, she realized it was time to commit to the pursuit of her true passion, designing and remodeling beautiful spaces. Her journey in the discovery of materials, colors and textures became instinctual as she began to design for others.
