Interview – Brandi Bernoskie

This episode is all about your online presence and what part of it matters most to grow your business. Since I’m not an expert on the technical side of having an online presence, I interviewed Brandi Bernoskie who is a digital strategist, to provide some insight and answer ALL of my questions on the topic.

Brandi is a strategic business consultant, website developer, founder of Alchemy and Aim  and co-founder of Interstellar Support, companies that help entrepreneurs elevate their online presence and get the right website and technology to be successful. Her academic background in theatre, philosophy, and physics was the perfect foundation for launching her businesses, where she’s worked with Brené Brown, Laverne Cox, Ali Brown, Judy Smith, and other notable thought leaders since 2013.  She is an advocate for using technology in ways that humanize, connect and serve people as well as for teaching others to think more broadly about impact when they create.

Throughout the episode, Brandi provides some amazing and knowledgeable takeaways about how to be online as a service-based business. She shares how you should first know where to find your core audience is online, and then connect with them through that platform. Brandi also talks about how the internet is a resource, now more than ever before, and how it is the foundation of a client’s experience with you before they even meet you.

Having an online presence is more than having a website with some details about you and your company, it’s about extending your personality into the online space with your language and photos and to build trust and relationships with your ideal clients.

Brandi shares that one of the biggest misconceptions about websites is that “it’s done once it’s built”. This simply isn’t true if you want to maintain your presence and relevance. You should be consistency adding to your website to reflect your growth as an entrepreneur, as a creative, and as a business.

Finally, Brandi and I chat about the other hurdle that I’ve heard from a lot of creative entrepreneurs which is “It worked for that person, but I can’t get it to work the same way for me”. We discussed how no two people are the same so there’s no way that the same plan and way of being online would work for everyone across the board and provide the same results. Having a strong online presence should be an extension of your own personality and your unique offering. Embrace your authentic online self and do what works for YOU.
